When I initially found out about play tents for kids I was not exactly sure what way they worked. By that I do not mean that I didn't understand how to put them up, it was more that I could not recognize how they added to the play of small kids. But, when I saw my kids actively playing in one it became apparent.

Play tents are about a different sort of play. My little ones always were big into virtual play and they have had a wonderful imagination, however, once you add a tent into the mix you gain something quite different.

I think that small children have this incredibly rose tinted vision of camping, they will see it as the most wonderful adventure and see it as something which you can't do if you happen to be just a baby. Thus when you set a couple of small children in a play tent then pretend to be grown ups; it is good to watch.

In their tent they would read through 'newspapers', cook dinner meals for their baby toys (and any younger child who came around to play), they would even clean up in their play tent - for some reason it was their space and they had a great respect for it.

I had earlier only got the play tent since it was on offer and they said they had practically nothing to do in the garden. But then, when the temperature got hotter it was a great way for them to be outside the house and not under the sun. They would sometimes take magazines into their tent and browse through when it got way too hot in the garden. Since their play tent was not attached with the ground they are able to also shift it around and place it in the shade when they decided that it was becoming too warm inside.

I was rather worried how I was going to say to them that the tent will have to be put away when the weather conditions got more severe; but they even managed to tackle this matter for me.

The weather had become a bit more changeable and the return to classes was looming; all of a sudden the summer season appeared to be ending. One day the small children came into the kitchen area and announced that they didn't want me to bother about their play tent when they moved back to school, and therefore they had decided to put it away.

I was greatly impressed by their responsibility and additionally think I may have even offered them a treat. I was a little premature in my compliments. On entering in their bedroom later that night I discovered that there idea of 'away' was essentially in their bedroom - so much in use, just relocated.

My first response was to assert that it was stored properly, however, they suggested that they needed it for reading before bed; as the eldest was only just learning to read and the littlest was far away from reading anything I got slightly suspicious. However, soon after noticing that after they were in their PJs each night they picked a book and took it inside their tent until I came up for bed time tales I before long realized that this truly was a versatile toy.

The play tent for kids that I purchased did start to seem a little battered following its first year, but it was probably the most played with and utilized item they had actually had and shared it tremendously.
